- Assess your aptitudes, interests and personal values
- Identify courses and careers of interest
- Know the minimum entry requirements and subject requirements for chosen career/courses.

Top Tips
- Select subjects you are interested in and are prepared to work at
- Pick the subjects you are good at
- Complete all research and assignments posted on Google classroom in fourth year
- Research the DCS School Subject Choice booklet
- Attend or view recorded virtual open days
- Talk to individual Leaving Certificate Subject teachers if you wish to find out more information about the subject and your suitability
- Access the Leaving Certificate subject textbook and research the material covered (past exam papers can also be helpful)
- Take into consideration your self-assessment tests (CAT4 and interest inventories)
- Discuss your thoughts and ideas at home
- Research courses on www.qualifax.ie and possible subject requirements.
- Remember to use the Minimum Subject Requirements search in "Useful Tools"
- Prepare questions you may have for your Guidance Counsellor
